About the author

Helen McCarthy (pictured with her daughter)  has been an infant/toddler and preschool teacher for hundreds of children and a consultant to young families for over thirty years.

She is a mother of two and grandmother of two.  Helen believes that children who are confident, secure, respected and surrounded by love can survive anything.   She resides in Newton and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

About the Illustrator

Jenny Kelley holds a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design.  An award-winning artist, she has been featured in Cape Cod Life and Cape Cod Magazine, among other publications.  Her portraits have been shown at numerous galleries, and her murals can be found in homes from Massachusetts to Florida.
